HTC VIVE REVIEW

HTC VIVE review says that it is quite entertaining but needed about two hours of troubleshooting, posting on forums, uninstalling and reinstalling drives and so on for just one hour of game play. The games turned out to be quite average and all the different experiences were fun for only about half an hour or so. It’s advisable to wait for a better VR with less technical issues and more games than HTC VIVE.

HTC VIVE review states that it’s a great VR and a lot of fun to play with, but there are issues with getting the game codes. Even though the page claims to include two games with HTC VIVE, they weren’t given. These aside, HTC VIVE a highly recommendable VR.

HTC VIVE review points out that while it’s a great system, only an avid gamer or developer will find it ready to use because it’s a little too technical to set up and needs fiddling with. Because of the expertise HTC VIVE needs to set up, the current price, and requirement of a very high-tech computer to run it, at approximately $800 it proves to be too expensive for an average user. HTC VIVE has remarkable tracking and an extraordinary sense of presence. Apart from that, the VR is the coolest systems to own. A gaming buff or aspiring developer should first try HTC VIVE before deciding. It’s advisable for an average user who only wants to play games to wait till the Gen 2 of HTC VIVE releases.

 

Oculus Rift REVIEW

Oculus Rift review says that the VR lives up to the claims of the wow factor, and all the great things that are said about it. However, the quality of its construction is nothing to write home about. There are many complaints about the HDMI cable connection, too. One might need to replace the cable connection with a better-quality connector and use duct tape to prevent the cable from pulling out. The USB 3 ports of Oculus Rift are another issue and disconnect frequently. One needs to improvise on the USB connection to get it to work. The PCI to USB card as recommended by Oculus Rift doesn’t work. The case of Oculus Rift is flimsy, does not hold the circuit board firmly in place and makes the headset disconnect even when lightly touched.

Oculus Rift review states that simce the room scale is of essence in VR, Rift has much to be desired. When Oculus Rift and another VR were set up, no one was keen to play on Rift. Even if the room space was larger, the short length of the Oculus Rift cable wouldn’t allow it to be fully used. The user had to spend a couple of hours to make the space as large as possible. On this modification, Oculus Rift gives an immersive experience. VR Sitting experience of Oculus Rift is a novelty, while in the room-scale, it is extraordinary. The more scope you have to move around in the space, the more immersive experience is provided by Oculus Rift.

 

PlayStation VR Review

PlayStation VR review says that it is easy to set up, works great with eyeglasses and feels comfortable on the head even if you play for longer hours. It tracks position easily even if the area is reasonably large. One can simply re-center PlayStation VR by just touching the ‘options’ button to play in a comfortable position. There are a number of impressive VR demos, games, videos, experiences to try. One can play regular games and watch movies on a big virtual theater screen, and you can also play games privately when the TV is being used. The AMOLED screens of PlayStation VR provide dark level with great contrast ratio, and feel better than the higher resolution display. The ‘plug and play’ nature requires no driver troubleshooting.

PlayStation VR review reveals that it cannot be re-positioned easily without the dual-shock controller. Unfortunately, PlayStation VR doesn’t have YouTube support yet and video applications like VRideo require ample bandwidth to run seamlessly at higher resolutions. PlayStation VR needs several wires to be plugged in, though the instruction manual is easy to follow and the connection cable is durable.

PlayStation VR review complains that the visuals not quite crisp, and some games and applications have many visible aliasing and jaggies. The experience becomes a bit jarring with the active titles that lead to many changes in direction. PlayStation VR cannot keep track of the player if the camera isn’t positioned well. The short length of wires limits the movement. Players who startle cannot stand and play.

PlayStation VR review states that it’s disappointing that it does not come with the core version.

 

Gear VR Review

Samsung Gear VR review states it has fun games and it’s great to watch Netflix on. However, using it for just 10-15 minutes at a stretch drains the battery and heats up the phone and VR.

Samsung Gear VR review says that the lenses are too closely placed and blur the viewing. It has compatibility restriction to just a few Samsung Galaxy models.
